Polish Yachting Association Joins IYT

Captain Adam Jasser and Graduates

On June 17th 2007, 30 of the most experienced Polish yachtsmen and women graduated from a workshop conducted by International Yacht Training, (IYT) with the  internationally recognized MCA Master Of Yachts 200 Tons Offshore Certificates of Competence.

The group, representing the cream of Polish Yachting, all knew of each other but only came together for the first time for the workshop, which was run under the auspices of the combined Polish Yachting Association, (PYA) and IYT initiative. The event was organized and led by Capt Adam Jasser, IYT’s representative and Chief Examiner for Poland and supported by Mr. Maciej Lesny, Vice president of the PYA.

Intensive instructor examinations were conducted by Cris Taylor, VP of operations of IYT.

The candidates have logged hundreds of thousands of nautical miles between them, some are career Master Mariners, and all have sailed extensively on Sail Training Association of Poland vessels in addition to their careers on yachts.

The workshop was conducted at the PYA Residential Training Center at Trzebiez with the help of General Manager Bogdan Samosiuk.  In attendance was Capt Alfred Naskret President of the Gdynia Maritime School Ltd, IYT’s first Polish partner school, who will be offering IYT courses from this summer.

After careful examination of yachting standards throughout the world the Polish Yachting Association chose IYT due to their high level of internationally recognized standards, dedication to quality and unparalleled commitment to excellence.  The Polish Maritime Ministry has approved and recognized IYT’s training as the only international yachting qualifications for use in Poland.
